4) Is there transport available?
Transport is available for the Challenge, Sportive and Edinburgh
Family Ride on 7th September and participants will be able to book
transport at the same time as their registration. Transport can no
longer be added to your registration online as of Tuesday 2nd
September, but there will be limited transport places available on
the day. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Please be advised that on the day of the event there will be
thousands of cyclists coming into Edinburgh and ScotRail is unable
to carry large numbers of cycles on its services.
Transport will leave Edinburgh between 05:30 and 06:15 for
Sportive Riders and 06:20 and 09:00 for Challenge Riders. Return
transport will be available from 12noon till 18:00hrs.
Transport for the Edinburgh Family Ride will be open from
07:30hrs at Murrayfield. Access to the transport zone can be made
either adjacent to the main entrance (off Roseburn St), or next to
the Ice Rink (off Riversdale Crescent). Riders will not be able to
access the zone from the Riversdale Road entrance to the Northwest
car park at Murrayfield.
5) How does the transport work?
Each participant loads their bike onto a truck (each will be
numbered) then heads to get the first available bus. Both
bike and participant will be transported through, either to
Edinburgh or Glasgow, depending on whether travelling to the start
or from the finish, at which point the participant will be able to
collect their bike from the relevant bike pen (the same number as
that of the truck).
For security purposes each participant is given a vest number
and a bike frame number. Upon arrival at the destination security
staff will ask each participant to show their vest number and they
will then be matched up with their bike.
6) Can I add transport to my order if I didn't book it when I
registered?
Transport can no longer be added to your registration
online as of Tuesday 2nd September, but there will be limited
transport places available on the day. Arrive early to avoid
disappointment.
7) Can I add further people in to an existing team?
Yes, just make sure that the team name is spelled exactly the
same.
8) How do I know if I and the rest of my team are
registered?
A successful entrant will receive confirmation emails from
WorldPay detailing all participant details and a receipt of the
amount paid.
If not received there is a high probability that you have not
been registered.
If you have any further queries regarding your registration
please don't hesitate to call 0141 348 7998 for further
information.
9) What is the route?
This year we are working on a new interactive map which can

11) Where can I find out about road closures and traffic
management for the events?
Each and every year we aim to make the experience not only more
enjoyable for those taking part, but also a safer one for everyone
in and around the route on the day. Working closely with both
Police Scotland and all the local authorities along the 47-mile
Challenge Route, for 2014 we have arranged for a number of specific
traffic management provisions. Unfortunately, this will cause some
disruption for other road users with some road closures and speed
restrictions along the route. Detailed here are the main areas that we would
like to make you aware of.
Maps of the route detailing traffic management will also be
available very soon. Please check back here soon for
downloadable routes.
