Pedal for Scotland is Scotland’s largest cycling event of the year – a mass participation bike ride for around 10,000 people who will be cycling from Glasgow Green to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on a 55 mile route that raises substantial funds for charity.
Each and every year we aim to make the experience not only more enjoyable for those taking part, but also a safer one for everyone in and around the route on the day. Working closely with both Police Scotland and all the local authorities along the route, we arrange for a number of specific traffic management provisions.
Nearer to the event day we will provide traffic management plans in areas along the 55-mile Classic Challenge route corresponding to local authority areas that the ride passes through
Frequently Asked questions
Emergency Access Along the Route
Emergency services such as Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, Scottish Fire and Rescue and all impacted local authority emergency personnel have been informed of plans and are briefed on the event. As such, any emergencies will be treated in the usual manner, so if you require the emergency services, please call 999. Any access required for emergency vehicles will be maintained and prioritised by event staff.
Access On the Day of the Event
There will be stewards, police officers and volunteers positioned along the route. If you require assistance on the day that is not a 999 emergency please ask event staff to help. In addition, there will be signs on and around the route indicating diversions for traffic.
