SEAN BATTY TO CYCLE FROM COAST TO COAST IN STV APPEAL CHALLENGE
STV weatherman takes on 168 mile cycling challenge from Tarbert to Dunbar to help fight child poverty.
STV’s Sean Batty, will set off on a four day fundraising trip in June to raise money for the STV Appeal.
The Sean Batty Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge will see Scotland’s favourite weatherman undertaking another huge cycle challenge, cycling over 250km from Tarbert to Dunbar, coast to coast across Scotland.
In each town he passes, Sean will be looking to meet STV Appeal fundraisers in the local community and get as many supporters involved in helping raise as much money as possible for children affected by poverty in Scotland. STV’s cameras will be there to capture all the activity for an STV Appeal programme later in the year.

Wed 10 June: Tarbert
Thurs 11 June: Tarbert, Arran, Lochranza, Sannox, Corrie, Brodick, Ardrossan
Fri 12 June: Ardrossan, Kilmarnock, Eaglesham, Strathaven, Lesmahagow
Sat 13 June: Lesmahagow, Lanark, Carnwrath, Balerno, Edinburgh
Sun 14 June: Edinburgh, Musselburgh, Gullane, North Berwick, Dunbar
Sean has been a long time supporter and fundraising hero for the STV Appeal. In the past Sean has cycled across the Western Isles, Northern Isles, competed in highland games, sporting events, baking contests, taken part in community challenges and climbed Ben Nevis, all in aid of the STV Appeal. On all of his past challenges he has been joined by incredible supporters from communities all over Scotland, and this year Sean is looking to meet many more fundraising champions to help him on his way.
Sean Batty said: “This is year five of the STV Appeal and I’m looking forward to yet another challenge, and this year I’m back in the saddle. In previous challenges I’ve cycled the Western Isles, Northern Isles and from Glasgow to Edinburgh three times, clocking up over 400 miles.
“I will be taking that mileage to over 500 with a cycling challenge from Tarbert in Argyll, to Dunbar in East Lothian. The journey will take me across the water to the north of Arran, through Ardrossan, Kilmarnock, Lanark, Edinburgh, Gullane and North Berwick. I’m hoping, as in previous years that we get lots of schools, organisations, businesses and individuals involved along the way with their own fundraising events which I can visit. It is always good to get a wee break and a wee cuppa along the way.”
